I got this idea from www.trsrockin.com/
The Spriter's Challenge works like this: I will present a specific challenge sprite to be created. You will make a sprite that best answers the challenge and mail them to me. I will put up the first 10 or so sprites and top 3 will get a special award to put on your forum/site/signature.
Rules:
-Entrants may only submit one sprite each challenge.
-Challenges will be held for only a week. Every week is a different challenge.
-Make the sprite apropriate for the challenge.
-Once you enter a sprite, you may not change it so take your time.
-No whining about your "grades" on your sprites.
-All judges will judge harshly.
-Entries MUST be original. No stealing someone elses sprite from another site or forum.
Judging:
-Entries will be judged against each other and individually.
-Your sprite will be judged on how will your sprite fits the criteria.
-The sprites will be judged on the quality of a sprite. If your sprite is all cluttered and blurry, you will lose points.
You may animate the sprite if you like. If it doesn't look good, you'll lose points. I'd suggest only doing animations if you think it'll improve the sprite. If you're not sure, then just dont do it at all. And doing an animation won't instantly make you win.
Don't know how to make sprites? Here are a couple different tutorials on TRsRocken. It was a bit confusing but it helped a little bit.

Shading
Decoloring and Fake Screenshots
